Adding a center line to a cable tray in CAD

In CAD, you can add or manipulate a cable tray center line by using the Move Point or reference point tools to align segments along the tray's centerline.

1. Select the Cable Tray Tool: In the Electrical workspace, go to the Home tab, Build panel, and choose Cable Tray. You can draw a new tray or select an existing one to modify its centerline .

6. Cut or Join Segments: If needed, use the Cut tool to split a tray at a specific point along the centerline, or Connect/Join commands to link segments to existing trays while maintaining centerline alignment .

Additional Tips

• CAD Blocks: You can also use pre-made cable tray CAD blocks that include centerlines for ladder, perforated, or solid-bottom trays. These blocks simplify placement and ensure accurate alignment .
• Collision Control: Ensure that tray segments do not overlap improperly. Proper spacing and alignment along the centerline prevent errors in routing and visualization .
• Undo/Redo Support: All modifications along the centerline support undo and redo commands, allowing safe adjustments without losing previous work .
